Intangible Book Design

Laura designed this 160-page hard-cover book for Chicago artist Mat Barber Kennedy. ‘This ‘Intangible’ series of Mat’s watercolor paintings each portrayed different biblical artifacts and items from middle eastern culture. Mat worked with an author and expert to create small sections of copy for each painting about the unique artifact, and then he created hand-painted edges for each individual section that pulled in distinct colors and movement from that painting. The design prioritized the paintings on every page and emphasized them by surrounding each with significant negative space.
